I've decided to start a new campaign to convince Timmy to crawl. I don't have a throw rug, like was suggested to cover the wooden floor, but I have a 3'x3' rubber mat that I can put Timmy on. I'm using the pacifier for these sessions, because otherwise the frustration causes Timmy to just start screaming and give up. I've also put on Baby Einstein- Don't ask me why, but he's suddenly developed an interest in it. Unfortunately, the only B.E. DVD we have in the house is Baby Santa. *groan*. I suspect it won't be long before we're through with hearing Christmas carols in May.
Before his first nap today we had our first go at it. For about 45 minutes, Timmy was on his belly watching B.E.. The last 10 minutes or so I tried to show him how to crawl by manipulating his hands and legs, but I think it was too close to naptime and after a few "steps", he would flop on the floor.
We'll try again after his nap and see what happens.

The second picture here looks exciting, eh? Well, as much as it may seem that Timmy is standing on his own, about a foot and a half in front of the couch, he is actually leaning his butt and back against the couch. Sorry- no standing yet. Although in the process of falling forward (nearly onto his face), he did take a couple steps. Progress!
