Dad was right: it only took once. When Timmy is standing while holding onto something (the couch, for instance), he likes to play this game where he'll stiffen up like a board and push himself straight backwards. I know he enjoys it, because he smiles right before he does it and after I catch him. This makes me too nervous about him standing to not be sitting right behind him the whole time.
Well, today, I had Timmy standing up next to the bed, holding on to it, and he started his game again. I took the down comforter and set it up behind him, hoping that falling on something soft would teach him the lesson without any pain. Unfortunately, the down comforter didn't soften the blow like I had hoped and he bashed his head into the hardwood floor.
Since then, Timmy has led with his butt when falling; it only took once.
Other than that fiasco, Timmy has been trying to get into the sitting position from his hands and knees again. He gets very close- he gets his butt on the ground- but just as he's picking his hands up and pulling him back, he loses his balance and rolls onto his back.
Last night only saw 2 wake-up calls, and both of them were short pacifier-replacing ones.
