Well, the camera must be at Grandma and Grandpa Hall's house- or else it's at the store, because Daddy will need to buy a new one. Fortunately, all the pictures on the memory card were backed up. Nonetheless, it'll be a bit before new pictures arrive.
Yesterday Daddy picked Timmy up early from daycare and we went shopping for a humidifier. It was hoped that a humidifier would keep the air in the bedroom from getting dry and thus give Timmy a more comfortable (and quieter) sleep. Boy, was I wrong!
I put Timmy down around 7:30- a bit later than his usual time. He had a rough time getting to sleep... he was coughing again. I had had the humidifier running for a couple hours by the time Timmy went to bed, and the room was noticably more humid, but Timmy wasn't feeling any better. For the next couple hours, Timmy would intermittantly sleep, then wake up coughing, then sleep, the wake up coughing. By the time Daddy went to bed at 9:30, Timmy couldn't get any sleep in at all, he was coughing so often.
From 9:30 onward, we went through a whole litany of different remedies to try to help the coughing. I should note, to begin with, Timmy didn't (and doesn't) have a fever, nor was he "acting" sick. Just the cough, which was why I thought it was the dry air to begin with. Nonetheless, we tried a bath, then sitting in the bathroom while a hot shower was running (for the moist air), then crackers, then milk, water, "cough syrup" (little more than honey, really), tylenol meltaways, sleeping in Daddy's bed, sleeping on the couch, sitting on the couch watching TV in Daddy's lap, sleeping in Timmy's bed on his back, on his side, on his belly, etc. It wasn't until the last bit, there- when we tried sleeping Timmy on his side and on his belly, that I heard it. Before a coughing fit, Timmy was swallowing. Then I listened a little more closely to the cough, and finally put two and two together... sinus drainage!
Timmy was having the coughing problems at night because his sinuses were draining when he was lying down. Since he likes to sleep on his back, it was exascerbating the problem.
By now, it was 3:30 am. Daddy had long since reserved himself to a night of no sleep. We gave sleep one last try, though- Timmy on his side, propped up by Moo and holding Teddy. It took a couple of tries, but finally Timmy stopped coughing long enough to get to sleep.
So... with Timmy going down at 3:30, one would think he'd sleep in late in the morning, right?
7:30, on the nose, Timmy got up and tried opening the bedroom door. He was up for the day.
