Timmy, Momma, and Sophie went on a walk to the park today. On the way there, a rottweiler jumped its fence and tried to attack us. Luckily, it got to Sophie first. Momma had to let go of the leash to let Sophie defend herself (and us). As we tried to back away, we got knocked over. Once the dog backed off and went to its porch, we went across the street to the neighbor's house and called 911. An officer from the K9 unit showed up - a coincidence - and got our information and checked Sophie (good thing we didn't get a smaller dog!). A little frazzled, we continued to the park, because we really weren't sure what else to do and Momma needed to walk it off. Timmy had alot of fun as usual at the park. On the way home we talked with some families working or playing in their yards, and one lady who'd lived here in the same house since the 1940s. When we were almost home, the same officer stopped us in the street to talk. I guess the family is going to have the dog put down. I guess he is slowly dieing from kidney disfunction, and they were planning on having to do so anyway. The whole thing was scary, sad, and unfortunate. The police officer was very nice and rolled down the back window so Timmy could see and play with Oxx, the Waynesville drug and tracking dog. Timmy was giggling the whole time. Aside from going out to breakfast at a new local greasy spoon (with awesome omelettes) and grocery shopping at the commissary, not much else interesting happened. We see Daddy in 4 days!!!

Fun looking park! Is this where Sophie was mistaken for a bear?
