Compliments of Grandma Hall
Tim is asleep and I don't know how long I will be uninterrupted so I'm writing everyone at once. Tim had a great time at our house last night. The first few hours he's here he spends exploring and getting reacquainted with all the doors, magnets, nooks and crannies. Books and toys are of no interest until he has checked everything out. At dinner time we had to send the five dogs out the door. They sat with their noses pressed against the glass trying to will Timmer's every move to drop more food on the floor. Tim was having all of their favorites: chicken, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese. With the mind power of five dogs (even ones with small minds like these) Tim couldn't help but make a big mess. When he was done, I left him in his highchair to watch the Dog Derby. Go, Dogs, Go!
They were lined up at the starting gate (i.e. door) with their haunches quivering. When the starting gate opened, Tim watched with amazement as the dog flood rushed toward him. If Tim knew what an owl or Linda Blair was, he could not have improved on his imitation. His head swung all around watching the feeding frenzy going on below him. Otherwise, he sat very still wondering if they would eat him next as they went for the morsels stuck in the side of his chair.
After dinner, Tim pooped (I always feel I need to report that). Not a record lava flow, but enough to warrant a bath. Tim loves baths, but he loves Grandpa's shower more. Tim ran around in the warm rain for fifteen minutes or so drowning himself over and over and laughing like crazy. When he stopped laughing and looked down, I believe he was peeing (hard to tell in a shower), then he continued to run in and out giggling. When I showed him a big warm towel, he came straight for it wanting to be wrapped up.
Tim then got the OZ Fluff and Buff, Co. treatment. His ears and teeth were cleaned and he was ready for pajamas. Before the pajamas, however, he received a coating of Malibu Moisturizer, the same stuff mommy has in Iraq. Tim was very mellow after that. He leaned back into the cushions of the couch like a king and let Grandma spoon feed him black cherry ice cream until it was gone. Next, Aunt Sami entertained him with a singing duck puppet show and spinning him wildly in circles. Tim giggled, but no upchucking of ice cream was produced. So he sat on my knees while I jiggled them and he said, "ahahahahahahahahahahhahahah" to hear his voice virberate. Is "virberate" a word, or did I just make it up?
At 8:00 PM Tim and I were off to Grandma's bed to watch movies. Tim likes the same movies I do. We watched "We are Marshall" and "Biography of Eleanor Roosevelt". Seriously, Tim likes those kinds of movies better than "Rikki-tikki-tavi" which I also had on hand in case he didn't find the former first lady fascinating. But he did, she was a truly amazing person. As soon as Tim wakes up this morning, Sam is making us pancakes. We'll then bundle up and go outside to have a look-see at Buster and the llamas. They always find Tim fascinating, but Tim, not them so much. He just stares at them expressionless.
I tell him that someday he will wake and magically find them in his own yard. He doesn't know what to think about that yet, I guess. Well, I'm off to finish off my pot of coffee so that I can keep up with Tim today.
